Shuck the Sulfurstar #1: 'Millennial Manacles'

Forced into retirement by the seraphs on high during a theater performance of adumbratory significance, the devil Shuck hits the road looking for a new life, knowing that he'll be pulled back into the troubles of Hell soon enough. Charming and whimsical, Shuck the Sulfurstar starts before the original Shuck Comics series and then will take Shuck through his devilish retirement in the small town of Thicket.

Along with Shuck, Thursday Friday, her mother Hedge, the creeches, and other characters will join in the revelry!

A Glowing Review

"Smith sets an interesting tone, somewhere between Ed The Happy Clown and Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress. The vaguely allegorical feel creates a strangely disconnected tension, as if the actual events of the plot are only a part of the comic's real content. Considering how literally most fantasists interpret religious myths (see any of Vertigo's various Sandman spin-offs for an example of this), it's refreshing to read an approach that seems firmly entrenched in the deep metaphorical underpinnings that compose myth.
